A Vegan 100% Mineral Sunscreen With SPF 30
Do you guys know how hard it was for me to find a sunscreen that doesn’t cause more acne than I already have, or irritate my sensitive skin?! I mean, every single sunscreen I’ve looked up has oils and fragrances, and most are not reef safe. Let’s not forget about the white cast they leave behind.
Right now, the only sunscreen I use is Dr Dennis Gross’s 100% mineral sunscreen SPF 30. I will start of by saying that this sunscreen is not 100% perfect. However, the reality is there are none (as with most products). The sunscreen does have silicone (dimethicone), but most sunscreens do and the ones that don’t, do not have all the other wonderful benefits that I look for in my skincare products. Bottom line, Dr Dennis Gross’s 100% mineral sunscreen is certainly better than all the other sunscreens I’ve researched and tried on my acne-prone, sensitive skin with hyperpigmentation.
I cannot forget to add that this sunscreen is safe for those with fungal acne (malassezia) as it has no oils. It’s also lightweight, does not dry out the skin, and leaves no white cast when blended well (warm product between fingers before applying it to your face). Not only does it have UVA/UVB broad spectrum protection, but it is also reef safe. This is honestly what initially caught my attention, and I was so happy when I noticed it. It's also sulfate free, phthalate free, paraben free, fragrance free, and cruelty free.
Use this sunscreen daily in the AM as the final step in your skincare routine, after your moisturizer. Don’t forget to get your ears and neck (front and back). Regardless of skin color, always use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Please also remember to use sunscreen 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every two hours, the more the better. Personally, I use sunscreen all year round, but summer is around the corner and we must protect our skin from sun damage more than ever!
